New Guinness World Record For The Largest Number Of People Scratching Scratchcards

A brand new Guinness World Record has been set! This time for the largest number of people scratching scratchcards.

Gluck (iGaming Suppliers) and the people at iGBLive (iGaming Super Show) in Amsterdam made history last week by breaking the World Record for the largest number of people scratching scratchcards.

Scratchcard World Record 2019

386 people took part in the record attempt with an official Guinness World Record adjudicator monitoring the process.

As soon as the adjudicator gave the go-ahead to start, nearly 400 people began scratching off their cards to find out if they had won.

Those without keys, coins or scratching implements even resorted to using their fingernails to be part of the Guinness World Record.

One participant took off an engagement ring and used the diamond to get scratching – while a man with nails cut too short, made a worrying attempt on the card with his teeth!

It made no difference to what the scratchcard enthusiasts used – what brought them together was the fact that they wanted to make history and they wanted to find out if they would win a prize.

Once the scratching had taken place, each steward had to confirm the tally of participants. This was overseen by an official Guinness World Record judge and gaming legend, Michael Caselli.

The World Record for the largest number of people scratching scratchcards was finally announced to excited cheers!

Prizes up for grabs!

Gluck came up with their own World Record scratchcard to use during the attempt. There were ten top prizes worth €450. While the prizes were never going to be astronomical, there were some very happy people who were over the moon that they won something for the first time in their lives.

One winner said how she had never won anything before, ‘not even a raffle!’

If you think about it, there were 10 winners from 386 participants. This translates to a 1 in 38 win-rate! These are extremely good odds.

Chief Commercial Officer and Founder, Helen Walton of Gluck Games said, “There can never be too much fun in the world. We love playing scratchcards ourselves and we’ve always wanted the honour of a World Record. Now we can truly say this was a world-record-breaking event and an occasion we will never forget!”

Previously the record was held by the lottery in the Philippines, but Gluck and the people at iGBLive scratched that out with 386 people taking part in last week’s record attempt.
