Powerball Soars To $625 Million

With no one winning the US Powerball lottery jackpot it has surpassed the $600 million mark for the fourth time in the history of the game, with the cash option an estimated $380.6 million.

So far, there have been 24 drawings in a row without a jackpot winner so this might be the first jackpot won in 2019.

$625M Powerball jackpot

Due to the fact that no one managed to correctly play the winning Powerball lottery numbers in Wednesday’s drawing for the jackpot of $550 million, online lottery players will once again have the chance of winning the seventh-largest lottery prize at $625 million this Saturday.

With the jackpot once again soaring, lottery kiosks are also experiencing an increase in traffic, with Powerball lottery enthusiasts purchasing tickets for the draw this weekend.

One such store is Bee-Gee’s Mini Market on Bigger Road in Kettering.  According to store employee Chrissy Helm, Powerball ticket sales have skyrocketed, with players walking in to purchase their lucky Powerball tickets as soon as the store opens.

Helm said that this happens every time the jackpot reaches more than $100 million.

She went on to say that once the jackpot reaches $300 million, people start to tell their friends and talk about it more, which brings even more traffic into the store.

The last time someone won Powerball

The last time someone correctly matched all the winning Powerball lottery numbers to scoop the elusive jackpot prize was on the Dec. 26 drawing. The lucky winner was David Johnson, 56, of New York, who claimed the $298.3 million jackpot.

The winning Powerball lottery numbers for Wednesday’s Powerball drawing were 10, 14, 50, 53, 63 and the Power ball was 21.

Four people in Florida, Kentucky, New Jersey and South Carolina matched five numbers and won the $1 million secondary prize.

This week’s $625 million jackpot is now the seventh-largest grand prize lottery drawing in U.S. history. The largest ever is $1.59 billion that took place in 2016.

Online American lottery enthusiasts will remember when the Mega Millions also soared into billions back in October and hit the second-largest jackpot when it reached a massive $1.537 billion.

The probability that the Powerball jackpot can now start “jumping” is quite possible as the estimated jackpot amount is based on ticket sales, which can bump up the jackpot before the draw takes place.

These amazing Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots are thanks to the rule changes that took place a few years back.

The rules approved in October 2016 adjusted the number of red and white ball that players can choose from.

Players now choose five white ball numbers out of 69, instead of 59, and one red Powerball number out of 26, instead of 35.

The next Powerball draw takes place on Saturday night and is the fourth largest Powerball jackpot on record and the seventh largest jackpot for any U.S. lottery game.

According to the Executive Director of the Texas Lottery, he said: “We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the first Powerball jackpot winner of 2019 will be a Texan.”

“Powerball sales have been strong during the last few days, which means more revenue for the state of Texas. As great excitement builds for Saturday night’s drawing, we want to remind our players to play responsibly. It only takes one ticket to win.”
