And the winners of the $456.7m Powerball jackpot is… The Emerald Legacy Trust! The winners of the draw held on March 17 have come forward and claimed the huge Powerball jackpot.
As the massive Powerball jackpot prize has been claimed via yet another Trust, this means that the winner’s identities will remain private.
What we can however say is that the lucky winning Powerball ticket was sold at the Speedway gas station in Lancaster, Pennsylvania matching all the Powerball winning numbers 22-57-59-60-66 and the Powerball 07 to win the massive jackpot.
It’s surprising that the prize took just over a month to be claimed, as the owner/s of the huge usa Powerball jackpot win, would have been consultation with financial advisors and setting up the Trust to claim the hefty prize money anonymously.
Ever since the lottery debacle surrounding the $559.7m Powerball jackpot win earlier, which the Good Karma Family Trust eventually did claim and keep their identity private through a court hearing, more and more Powerball winners seem to be opting for Trusts to claim their big usa lotto prizes.
Another Trust that claimed a Powerball win and retained the winners of the $55.9 million jackpot was the Moose Trust in Louisiana, USA.
Gary Miller, state lottery spokesman, said he wasn’t aware of any cases in Pennsylvania in which a winner had set up a trust to claim their prize.
The State of Pennsylvania also considers the names of lottery winners to be public information. (Which is exactly why the winners set up the Trust).
Had they not, their first and last names, town and county, date of win and amount won would have been publicised for transparency purposes.
Naturally, attorney representing the Emerald Legacy Trust gave no details about the winners of the $456.7m Powerball jackpot. He did say that the winners had chosen to remain anonymous over fears about their privacy and security. It is the largest prize ever awarded by the Pennsylvania Lottery and the state’s 18th Powerball jackpot win.
The Emerald Legacy Trust claimed the huge Powerball jackpot win as a lump sum amounting to $273,959,698.
